Dear Rosemary,
I received a couple of pictures from Grant today. One was a picture of me when I was twelve or thirteen years old. My Father was standing behind me. It's odd,but I vaguely remember having that picture taken so many years ago.
Another picture shows me riding the horse I rode when I visited my sister Rita and her husband Bob Greenwood. It was a bay gelding called Star. He was a spirited horse and sometimes was a challenge mounting him. I rode him many days when I was fifteen and sixteen years old. A few days we took him to a small-town rodeo, and I rode him all evening. Hank came with a few times but would never ride him. He always said the horse was crazy. He wasn't, He just wasn't ridden enough. Usually, after I rode him for a half hour or more, he would settle down and work nice.
The third picture was taken at my brother Rick's house. It been in the seventies. We were pretty young. It is a picture of you Rose, Russ , Kurt and me. You look great in the picture as usual.
The last picture was You and I visiting Rita and Bob during our honeymoon. We are standing outside in the yard and we are wearing cowboy hats and boots that we bought in Tulsa earlier during the day. Remember? The third week of October 1957. We spent one day traveling around Tulsa, another day we were in Oklahoma City. Another day we visited an Indian Reservation and watched Indian ceremonies and dances. Later on we drove to Bird Creek and wandered along the river-bank for a few hours. We took in a rodeo at Claremont that was set in a small field. No, I didn't ride Star there, but we did go where he was in a pasture. I saddled him and rode him around for a while.. He was pretty spunky that day. You wouldn't ride him, and I'm actually glad you didn't. He was a handful for me. It was a very great week. Most people would think that was a terrible honeymoon, yet we enjoyed every minute we were there.
Any way Honey, I just wanted to tell you about the pictures. I wish you were here to see them also. I'm sure you would enjoy seeing them, and remembering that great week and it would probably put a beautiful smile on your face. I love you Babe. Miss you more and more every day. Ralph
